Things to do
Wherever our airport transfer may have taken you, there is sure to be loads to do nearby. Barcelona is a city full of surprises. You can laze on sandy beaches or watch the yachts in the marina, and yet a short distance away there is a lively major city. Barcelona has over 50 museums packed with priceless works of art. Stroll along historic La Rambla, filled with flower stalls and street artists. Thrill-seekers can visit Tibidabo Amusement Park, or sample a variety of water sports.
Sightseeing
You are sure to see a little of Barcelona during your airport transfer, but there is much more to see besides! Barcelona has a world famous architectural heritage, and 5 buildings are designated World Heritage sights. The historic centre of old Barcelona is a magnificent Gothic quarter, filled with a maze of dark, meandering streets. The imposing cathedral is surrounded by the quaint medieval quarter. Throughout the city you can see the fantastic works of the architect Gaudi, most famously his unfinished La Sagrada Familia.
Shopping
As you may see from your airport transfer, Barcelona is filled with a diverse range of shops, from street stalls to chic boutiques. The Boqueria on historic La Rambla is a renowned food market that gradually leads down to the sea. Barcelona’s main shopping streets have been pedestrianised and linked to form a large area known as the Barcelona Shopping Line. This extensive area even has its own bus route that travels the entire line so you can shop hop!
Nightlife
You may catch a glimpse of the vast array of nightlife Barcelona has to offer during your airport transfer. Barcelona is a city that doesn’t sleep. It is filled with every kind of nightlife imaginable, from small, intimate nightspots to heaving superclubs. There are a wide variety of cafes and bars, many with live music. Barcelona also hosts a wide variety of festivals throughout the year.
Eating out
Barcelona is home to an extensive variety of restaurants, serving cuisine from around the world, so there is sure to be something to suit every taste and every pocket. Typical Catalan cuisine has a Mediterranean flavour, using plenty of olive oil, fresh herbs, fresh fish and seafood, and seasonal vegetables. Head to the harbour for a traditional paella made with the freshest possible ingredients.
