Dublin
Dublin was originally founded by the Vikings, and the city’s rich history and unique heritage combine to create a special atmosphere. Dublin is full of inspiring historic sights and monuments, and is traditionally a creative city, so it is no surprise it has been home to so many celebrated authors over the years. Dubliners take great pride in their cultural heritage and this is evident throughout the city.
Things to do
Wherever our airport transfer may have taken you, there is sure to be loads to do nearby. Dublin has a relatively small city centre that is ideal for getting around. Take a guided walking or bus tour to be sure not to miss anything. Ireland is famous for whisky and Guinness, so find out more about both with trips to the Guinness Storehouse or Old Jameson Distillery. Stroll through the green parks and open spaces of the city, or visit Dublin Castle or the zoo.
Sightseeing
You are sure to see a little of Dublin during your airport transfer, but there is much more to see besides! Dublin has many museums packed with artefacts from its fascinating history. Tour the cathedrals, or admire the views from the Halfpenny or Millennium Bridges. Merrion Square is home to some of the finest examples of Georgian architecture to be found in Dublin, and the new parliament building. There are also many monuments, including the Spire of Dublin, a 120 metre high steel spike.
Shopping
As you may see from your airport transfer, Dublin is filled with a diverse range of shops. The heart of the city is pedestrianised, with plenty of street artists and buskers to entertain you as you shop. Here you will find all the major shops and stores. Dublin has plenty of souvenir shops and many smaller shops selling original artwork. On Sunday mornings, you can rub shoulders with artists selling their works in Merrion Square.
Nightlife
You may catch a glimpse of the array of nightlife Dublin has to offer during your airport transfer. The pub is the heart of Dublin’s nightlife, and there are over 1000 in the city, some featuring live traditional Irish music. There is also a trendy bar scene. Dublin is world famous for its theatres and theatrical productions, so why not take in a performance?
Eating out
Dublin is a modern, cosmopolitan city and, as you would expect, has a range of restaurants serving cuisine from around the world. There is sure to be something to suit every taste and every pocket. Dublin is located on the coast, and traditional smoked salmon and oysters are served throughout the city, usually with a pint of Guinness!
