Rome
Rome is possibly the most historic city in Europe, and yet it is also a modern European capital. The Eternal City has drawn visitors for centuries, as an important religious and cultural centre, and guests have always been spoiled for choice. Central Rome is a wild tangle of streets both ancient and modern. The elaborate old town is filled with typical Roman squares. The city is filled with intimate nooks and crannies to explore. With so much to do and see, there is sure never to be a dull moment.
Things to do
Wherever our airport transfer may have taken you, there is sure to be loads to do nearby. Rome is steeped in history, but is also worth visiting simply for its atmosphere, scenery, culture, and city life. Discover the famous piazzas or sample a traditional Roman baths. Take in some of the many ancient monuments, museums and galleries. There are also many parks to explore, including the vast Villa Borghese with its boating lake.
Sightseeing
You are sure to see a little of Rome during your airport transfer, but there is much more to see besides! Who could miss the ancient monuments of the Forum or the Colosseum, the first concrete building ever constructed nearly 2000 years ago? The works of the artist Michelangelo can be seen throughout the city, and with the works of Botticellli and Rosselli at the Vatican. Throw a coin into the Trevi fountain and make a wish, or take a trip south along the Appian Way.
Shopping
As you may see from your airport transfer, Rome is filled with a diverse range of shops, from open-air food markets to chic boutiques. Piazza di Spagna is home to the city’s designer boutiques. There are antique and souvenir shops scattered throughout the city and around the city centre are countless shops selling Italian speciality foods.
Nightlife
You may catch a glimpse of the array of nightlife Rome has to offer during your airport transfer. Spend a balmy evening on a café terrace in one the magnificent piazzas, sipping an espresso or glass of wine, and watch the world go by. Take a moonlit stroll along the river Tiber. There are plenty of bars and pubs in the city, and some clubs and discos for night owls too!

Rome is home to a wide variety of restaurants, serving cuisine from around the world, so there is sure to be something for everyone. It also has its own very distinctive cuisine; home-made pizza and fresh pasta can be found everywhere, and delicious Italian ice-creams.
