Tallinn has been rapidly modernising and expanding since the overthrow of Communism in 1988 and joining the EU in 2004. Things to do
Wherever our airport transfer may have taken you, there is sure to be loads to do nearby. The medieval centre of Tallinn is a World Heritage sight and as you wander the maze of narrow, winding, cobblestone alleyways you are transported back to the Middle Ages. Reminders of the Soviet occupation can be found throughout the city, or you can visit the Song Festival Grounds where the ‘singing revolution’ took place. Tour the many museums and discover a little of the history of the city. Tallinn has several spas if you fancy a spot of relaxing and pampering.
Sightseeing
You are sure to see a little of Tallinn during your airport transfer, but there is much more to see besides! Take a guided bus or cycle tour of the city to be sure not to miss anything. You can even take a tour of Old Town by minitrain! Walk along the impressive ancient city walls that are interspersed with observation towers and gates, or marvel at the Baroque splendour of Tsar Peter I’s summer palace. There are several churches to explore, and a monastery in the Latin Quarter.

As you may see from your airport transfer, Tallinn is filled with a diverse range of shops. There are modern department stores and malls, and many smaller handicraft shops and street fairs. The medieval markets ensure that traditional craft skills are kept alive, and it is possible to watch your goods being made in the old-fashioned workshops.
Nightlife
You may catch a glimpse of the array of nightlife Tallinn has to offer during your airport transfer. Tallinn is filled with every kind of nightlife you could wish for. There are clubs and discos; cool, hip modern bars; wine bars; corner cafes and traditional Estonian inns. There are sophisticated cigar lounges where smokers gather to relax and chat after dinner. Pool halls are popular in Estonia, or you could try your luck at one of the casinos.
Eating out
Tallinn city centre is home to a wide variety of restaurants, serving cuisine from around the world, so there is sure to be something to suit every taste and every pocket. Traditional Estonian fare has rustic roots and includes local black bread, pork, potatoes and fresh garden vegetables.
